In a harrowing incident of self-defense on a quiet evening in San Antonio, a local barbershop owner was forced to use lethal force to protect his life and that of his business partner. The attempted robbery, taking place around 7:30 p.m. at a barbershop located in the 2000 block of Basse Road, ended in the death of the assailant, identified as 50-year-old Victor Cardenas.
Authorities report that Cardenas entered the barbershop wielding a firearm and began demanding wallets and purses from the patrons inside. The situation escalated when one of the business owners, a 26-year-old man, did not immediately comply with the demands and was brutally pistol-whipped by Cardenas.
The assailant then turned his attention to the other business owner, a 51-year-old woman, and attempted to escalate the situation further by producing zip ties, suggesting a possibly graver outcome. In a pivotal moment of self-defense, the male business owner retrieved his firearm and shot Cardenas multiple times in the chest.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later declared the death a homicide, stemming from the gunshots inflicted during the robbery attempt.
What a shame…
The injured business owner was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but was stabilized.
Local law enforcement stated that the business owner acted within his legal rights in using lethal force, citing self-defense. He is not expected to face any charges related to the incident.
This event is just another example of the critical importance of the right to self-defense and the ability of individuals to protect their lives and property. It also highlights the dire consequences that can arise when stupid criminals confront law-abiding citizens. The community is relieved that no innocent lives were lost. Stay heavily armed and very dangerous for your personal safety and preparedness in the face of criminal activity.
